Here's a few pics of my SAITO, Radio Controled steam-powered Destroyer "DDK 16 Minegumo"
Just started getting it ready to test run in a few days. My father was a big steam R/C modeler years back and had a bunch of tugs, warships, transporters, etc... and eventually sold them all to a collector in Boston... the guy wanted everything but I insisted I buy this destroyer from my dad (he was not happy)... just could not see them all go. A few specs...
- 40" Length, 8" Beam, height ??
- JR Century 7 channel R/C radio (freq=?)
- B2F Boiler w/ T2 DR twin piston engine with geared DOUBLE prop
- Electronic Zenon Flashing Strobe Light!
- Refillable propane burner (vice original alcohol burner)
- R/C functions: Left/Right Rudder, Steam throttle, forward/reverse selection, Strobe Light Control (On/Off)
One of these days this summer I will plan to take her to the pond to float/test again... it's been 15+ years since she's seen water!
