6th Annual John Nicolaci Float-Fly!
September 26th, 2015 (Raindate the 27th)
Mary's Pond, Mary's Pond Road
Rochester, MA

email from Gary on 9/21/15

"Hello All,
On Saturday September 26th, 2015, with Sunday the 27th being the rain date, the Bristol County Radio Control Club with cooperation of the Decas Cranberry Corporation will be hosting the 6th Annual John Nicolaci Memorial Float Fly at Mary’s Pond, Mary’s Pond Road, Rochester MA. This event will feature Radio Control seaplanes flying from Mary’s pond as a tribute to Mr. John Nicolaci.

We are celebrating our 7th year holding this event. The 1st year it was held it was held as a fun fly and Mr. Nicolaci himself was present and enjoying the flying. The event has been held every year since to honor John for his contributions to both full size and model aviation. John acquired and secured the use of the Decas bog property many years ago for him and a few fellow pilots to fly later passing the “key” to a another BCRCC member to continue the tradition he started. With the cooperation of Decas Cranberry Products and its owner Mr. John Decas, we are still able to fly from this wonderful flying site.

The site is an 88 acre spring fed fresh water pond with no fuel powered boat traffic. The Decas property encompasses approx 1/6th of the available shoreline. There is a very large grassy area for the aircraft pit area, lots of off road parking, and an elevated grassy area for spectator viewing. While some of the shoreline is wooded there are very few obstacles if any to a clear view of the entire pond and airspace from the flying line.

Come join us at this premier flying site and help us pay tribute to Mr. Nicolaci and enjoy the fellow float flyer camaraderie. This AMA sanctioned event will be starting at 9:30 am (flying @ 10:00) at the Decas Cranberry Products Bog, 500 Mary’s Pond Road, Rochester MA Admission is $10.00 for pilots and spectators are free. Donations are accepted and appreciated. There is a manned retreival boat and food will be available on site.

For those members who wish to participate in tiding up the area we will be at the pond on Friday, September 25th to do so around 9:30 AM!!

See the attached flyer for complete details on the event.
See you there!!
Gary C.
BCRCC President"
