Re: 101" SU-26 Sukhoi - 100cc Electric Conversion
Wow! It's a monster. I would like to see this one fly. Mainly because it will be a quiet flyer. That motor is beautiful. The batteries will be able to jump some vehicles or arc weld with them. Gonna give kids rides? You are going to have some heavy wire and connectors there. A lot of amps. I would not want to get hit by that motor. Hambugers. Safety switch is a must here.

Just looked at the specs on the motor and it needs a 200amp Esc. Big!. I watche a motor test on the ground and this Hungarian Extra fly here. He seems to have a smaller prop here. She revs and moves out.The specs are copied here.
Flight time: 6 minutes
9331 watts
8063 rpm
current 211,3 ampers
16,26 amper hours
Esc temp.: 50 celsius
2,7 meter size Wild Hare Extra 300
Electromotor: Turnigy Ca 120/70
Esc: Castle ICE HV-160
Batteries: 4x 5000 mAh 6S Zippy Flightmax

This one is an on stand test.

Good luck on it.

Yeh Bob... that Wild Hare setup is almost exactly what I plan to do...
12s2p 5000maH, a HV160 ESC and a 28"x12 3-bladed prop (I think he used a 30"x12). Around 10 killowatts!
Just found out the motor is in US customs (from China)... awaiting its arrival so I can mill some stand-offs for the motor.
Just ordered servos for this beast... servos cost more than the darn plane!

The sound on that Hungarian plane video is real nice. It is not to loud and just has that hum to it like and inline piston engine. Real sharp.

Well... finally got some progress done on the Sukhoi... Engine mounted, landing gear reinforced and mounted, plus a bunch of extras inside the fuselage (beefing up, center servo tray, etc... attached a few pics... 28x12 3-bladed prop looks big... well... it is big but... Gheeez! I hope this fits in my mini-van!

Quite impressive. nice to see you had time t get some progress on the project. All high quality stuff. Should be quite a site to see. At least you got some building in.

Not much progress but some... designed a cool pulley-driven dual servo rudder tray... this is built around a cheap ($30) CNC'd aluminum dual rudder servo tray and bellcrank sold by Hobby King. No need to "match" servo throws, etc... pulleys even allow for one servo operation (i.e. fail-safe sort of if one servo stops working or becomes jammed). Milled myself two delrin pulley wheels, and each wheel has two flanged 6mm bearings. Other parts include two HK Digital 320 oz-in servos, two CF 4" servo bell-cranks, a main 5" aluminum ball-bearing suported bellcrank, Dubro HD 4-40 ball links and two milled stand-offs/blocks for mounting/raising the forward, offset servo.

Holy crap! Where the heck you find all these gadjets? Pretty exotic.

My first run-up of the large brushless in my 101" Sukhoi... smoothest running brushless I've seen and I've had many Hackers, AXIs, etc...... Yikes is all I can say!

Very Nice setup. Looks like you are close to finish. I like that quiet roar. Should be nice to see her fly.
