I can call it finished. I just have to spray a clear dull coat tomorrow to seal it and protect it from wear. Anyways, I got the canopy and pilot together and the antenna. Added some simulator exhaust tips also. All electrics are installed and range tested for flight. This is a representation of a not to well worn version of a Solomons Island Japanese fighter which gives some idea as the many color systems they used for the duration of the WWII island occupation.

Gave an overall clear semi-gloss polyurethane over the whole plane. It even everything out. No more shiny decals.

BONUS

I decided to rebuild my old #3 wrecked Zero. It had a number of serious damages. I stripped all the parts out and am refinishing it just for a static display for some child. It had about 5 chunks of missing foam in the wing. A broken in half right wing and missing aileron. The elevator had cracks and a full break. break. A full cracked fuselage behind the broken canopy. The canopy forward section torn away. The cowling is bashed on the bottom.

So rebuilding all this is going to make a nice toy for hanging. The green is sprayed over a light gray base not the same as above model which is over tan base. Still more finishing to go.

I grouped 5 Jap planes together as I rebuild my wrecked Zero only for static display. Far distant is a scratch built Hein Tony. It is 8 years old ad hasn't been flown for a few years. A Zero Rufe conversion on the left middle. That was my second Zero. Mid right is a Ki84 Hayabusa Frank. Built from Czech Rep. And front row is my latest Zero left and the total rebuild ongoing on the right. 2 others not shown is a Ki 84 Kawasaki Nick twin, another balsa Zero, and my giant Kawanishi Emily.

I made a Plaster of Paris female mold out of the newer cowling . The one in the middle is the second glass cowl I made for the Zero Rufe update.

Today I am finishing all the painting and decals.I will get an overall semi-gloss clear coat. I am waiting for plastic sheets to make a new canopy and it will be finished.
